We’re thrilled to announce that Foolish Things Coffee Company will be taking over the café at The Root – Market Station! Get ready to elevate your food and beverage experience. Founded in 2012 by Tulsa native Justin Carpenter and his wife Katie Carpenter, Foolish Things is more than just a coffee shop. It’s a community hub centered around hospitality + approachable, delicious, unpretentious coffee. Foolish Things gets all of their coffee beans roasted by another Tulsa favorite, Coracle Coffee.
Their journey began with a shared dream sparked on their first date—the dream to open a cafe together. Both Katie and Justin have been heavily influenced by their shared love of hospitality, connecting people, and art; especially supporting local Tulsa artists. Foolish Things branding all began from a classic—Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol. It’s a personal favorite of the Carpenters, and a penchant for being a bit silly—or foolish, if you will.
With a deep-rooted commitment to hospitality, Justin and Katie have built a brand synonymous with warmth and welcoming vibes. Foolish Things isn’t just about the perfect cup of coffee; it’s about creating a space where people connect and feel at home.
We’re particularly excited about their partnership with another Tulsa favorite, et al., which promises to bring an extra special touch to their menu. Et al. is a collective of chefs working collaboratively to build a more delicious and equitable future for the food and beverage industry in Tulsa—sharing the profits and pay equally among the team. They were a 2023 Best New Restaurant James Beard Award finalist, so you know the food is killer!
For those Foolish Things fans who have questions about what it’ll be like to grab coffee inside a fully operational coworking space: the good news is that you can utilize our first floor space to cowork after you purchase your goodies from Foolish Things. We’re happy to give you a tour + talk memberships, or we can let you work your way by yourself. Just let us know!
