Member Of The Month: Christofer Baldwin, Founder of Synapse Communications Consulting

Meet Chris Baldwin, our Member of the Month! Chris joined The Root as a way to break free from the isolation of working from home, and he’s been an active part of our Fayetteville community ever since. As the founder of Synapse Communications Consulting, Inc., Chris combines his love of storytelling with his expertise in biomedical engineering to create impactful medical and commercial content for biotech and pharmaceutical companies.

Chris embodies what The Root is all about: collaboration, curiosity, and community. Chris helps make The Root a place where everyone feels inspired and supported. We’re so grateful to have him in our community!

What’s your work story? Share a little about your role or business.

I have always been a storyteller at heart. Since I was young, I have loved finding creative ways to capture attention and communicate ideas in new ways. At the same time, I was always fascinated by science. I quickly learn that it was not the lab work, but the challenge of making complex data
understandable and engaging through visuals and narrative.

After grad school, I discovered the field of medical communications and realized it was a perfect intersection of my interests. It allowed me to use
my background in biomedical engineering to help biotech and
pharmaceutical companies communicate strategically and
educationally—internally, to stakeholders, and externally, to healthcare professionals.

Today, I run my own firm, Synapse Communications Consulting, Inc., where I partner with agencies to develop compelling, high-impact medical and commercial content. I love the variety in the work, the chance to contribute to different therapeutic areas, and the thrill of helping launch
products. Knowing that the materials I help create will educate and inform the market—it’s an incredibly rewarding experience.

What’s a guilty pleasure snack or treat you can’t resist?

I am an absolute glutton for Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, specifically their “Tonight Dough” flavor.

If you could instantly master a language, which one would it be?

I would master Japanese, since it has always been a dream of mine to go and explore Japan and its wonderful food and culture.

What’s the best event or activity you’ve attended at The Root?

The launch party has been my favorite. It was great getting to know some of the people in the coworking space and the people behind the scenes at The Root!

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

“Troubadour” by George Strait. Don’t ask why, it just is.

What’s a book, podcast, or show that has inspired you recently?

“Co-Intelligence: Living and working with AI” by Ethan Mollick

What’s something you’ve learned about yourself through coworking?

How much I rely on in-person social interaction to keep me motivated and productive.

What’s your favorite part about being a member of The Root?

The Root has been a refreshing change of pace for work-from-home heroes like myself and so many other here. One of the most valuable aspects of
being a member is the opportunity to spark conversations with people
outside of my field—conversations I would not otherwise have. It’s a space
that fosters curiosity, creativity, and cross-disciplinary connection. At The Root, community isn’t just about who you work with—it’s about who you work around. I really appreciate the sense of support, the chance to learn
from others, and the potential to build lasting relationships with fellow members.
