Tips For Networking In a Coworking Space

As professionals and just as humans, we’re always looking for ways to expand and grow our professional and personal networks. In recent years, that looks vastly different—specifically with the rise of work from home, remote work teams, and the exodus from traditional office spaces and working hours. But, coworking spaces offer a unique opportunity to bring back more relaxed and organic in-person networking opportunities. As a highly sought after “third space” in the post-pandemic world, coworking eases you back into the groove of community. In fact, quite a few of our members laud the ease of making connections in our space as one of their favorite parts of The Root.

Are you ready to get the most out of your coworking community? It only works if you work it—it’s a two-way street. Here are a few tips!

Community Events

1. Change-up your routine

Instead of working in your usual office or at the same desk you have claimed for the past two weeks, venture out and work from different communal spots around your coworking space from time to time. You might strike up a conversation with the person working next to you. Or, simply being present in a communal space will make you more accessible to others. The most important thing is to keep it natural. Coworking brings people from different backgrounds and business ventures together, so there is no need for it to feel like a sales pitch, just friendly conversation!

The Root has a wide variety of communal spaces, including kitchens, lounges, soft seating and shared workspaces. We also have our Hospitality Bars, where simply chatting with our community team can help you connect with other members who share your interests. We love to connect our members!

2. Engage in community events

If you’re not sure where to start, our community events are a great way to meet people and get to know each other—usually paired with delicious and unique snacks and beverages. We host a full lineup of events throughout the month, including happy hours, breakfast club, lunch and learns, and book club. Check out our upcoming event schedule.

Our events are designed to be fun and informative, and they’re a great way to build relationships with other members. You can also learn about the latest trends in your industry and discover new opportunities for collaboration.

3. Host or sponsor an event

If you have a seminar or lunch and learn topic just waiting to be shared, or simply want to sponsor one of our upcoming events, this is a great way to get in front of others. By hosting an event at The Root Coworking, you can share your knowledge and expertise with your clients and our community, getting exposure to new people. You can also collaborate with other members to create a truly unique and memorable event.

When networking within a coworking space, just remember that you are not alone. Most people are looking for connections like you, so don’t be afraid to bust out of your shell and strike up a conversation with someone. By following these tips, you can use coworking spaces to grow your network and build meaningful relationships with other professionals. We hope you feel at ease networking and enjoy our space.

If you’re ready to make the most out of your membership at The Root by hosting an event, reach out to our team and share your ideas. We’d be happy to help!
