Member Of The Month: Dakota Christian, Little Giant Consulting

Meet Dakota Christian, the mastermind behind Little Giant Consulting and our June Member of the Month! This Tulsa native isn’t your typical CEO. When he’s not strategizing how to elect the next wave of Oklahoma Democrats (his company’s mission, by the way!), you’ll find him cracking jokes with his coworkers, nose-deep in a good book, or wrangling his pack of three furry companions with his partner. A true believer in community, Dakota calls The Root his home base, where his door (and probably his dog treats) are always open. So, whether you’re a seasoned political pro or just curious about making a difference, Dakota’s infectious enthusiasm and genuine spirit are sure to make you feel right at home.

Little Giant Consulting is driven by a singular mission: to build the next generation of political organizers and elect Democrats in Oklahoma. They believe that the best way to create change is by investing in the people who will lead the way. That’s why the team is dedicated to providing the resources, training, and support necessary to cultivate a new generation of progressive leaders. At its core, Little Giant is passionate about democracy, community, and progress. Every person has the power to make a difference, and Little Giant is committed to empowering individuals to take action and create change.

What do you do? Tell us a little bit about your work.

I assist current and future elected leaders to win their elections, increase civic engagement, and work together toward making practical progress for our city and state. Make sure you all are registered and have a plan to vote! (https://okvoterportal.okelections.us/)

What are your two favorite spots in Tulsa?

My two favorite spots in Tulsa are NOLAs and Fulton Street Books & Coffee.

What is the most valuable career advice you’ve been given?

“The minute you stop learning is the minute you stop working [in this field]. Always continue to ask questions and reflect upon your day.”

What was your first big splurge?

Growing up I always had to buy my own technology, so my first big splurge was an Xbox 360.

What was your first car? Did you name it?

A hand-me-down Chevy Cruze from my Aunt, I’m not sure I can publish the name that my family, friends, and I called it. (She flooded the gears and it had terrible brakes, eventually, the engine died as well).

What does a perfect day off look like for you?

A perfect day off for me looks like a picnic in the park with my partner and our three dogs.

When you started out, what did you think your job would be at this point in time?

When I first started working, I thought I was going to be at a bank and eventually become a Financial Analyst. I think my parents would’ve been a lot more comfortable with that decision.

There are now 25 hours in a day—how do you spend your extra hour?

I would be reading a book! I would love to have more time to read.

What do you think is the best part about being a member of The Root Coworking?

Being a young professional working in a niche field, The Root has helped us look the part by providing beautiful office space and meeting rooms for current and potential clients.
